ONE PARENT MAY ATTEND FOR MODELS UNDER 18 YEARS OF AGE FRIENDS ARE WELCOME IF REGISTERED IN ADVANCE! Frequently Asked QuestionsQ: How long is the event?A: Registration begins at 8:00AM. The actual event runs from 9:00AM to 6:30PM with several breaks throughout the day. If you are interested in getting some individual career counseling, you may schedule an appointment for a session after dinner where Alan Brenner will sit down with you and help you do some career planning. If you want to meet you need to make your appointment early since counseling slots are limited.Q: Are there any meals provided at the event?A: We have scheduled several breaks throughout the day including lunch and dinner. There are places to eat near both of our studios. You are also welcome to bring food. If there is an interest, we can order food in for those who wish to share the cost.Q: Should I bring a parent with me, I am under 18?A: We do not require a parent, but we strongly recommend it. In order to model as a minor, you will generally need to have a parent with you as an escort and to sign documents on your behalf when you go on assignments. If you are serious about modeling, this should be a family effort because their support will be essential if you want to be successful. You are welcome to bring one parent for free. If you want to bring a second parent or a friend, they can come at half price.Q: Can I really bring a friend?A: If you have friends who are interested in modeling or acting, we'd love to have you bring them along. Since space is limited, they must be registered in advance.Q: Are reservations required?A: The answer is NO but they are certainly recommended. If we have space on the date of the workshop, you are welcome to attend. Since these events are free, they will fill up quickly. A reservation will ensure that you have a spot when you arrive.Q: Are these workshops for models or actors?A: The answer is both. Modeling and acting are two distinct professions but there is a great deal of commonality to the business. Models and actors will each learn a lot which will help them start out properly. Click here to get more information on our workshops.Q: Will these workshops make me successful?A: Only you can make yourself successful. There are many factors that contribute to success or failure. Some of them you can control others are simply blind luck. The problem is that many, many people fail because they go off in the wrong direction, they get caught up in scams, they make poor decisions and get discouraged early. Our purpose is to teach to you enter the business the right way, to avoid the pitfalls and make your effort productive. Whether that will lead to success is not something we can predict, but we can promise that you will make a more effective effort.Q: Not many people succeed, so why should I try?A: You have to realistically evaluate your look and your talent. As a model, you need to decide if you have a marketable look! As an actor, do you have the talent to deliver a commercially viable performance? If you answer YES to these questions and believe that you have what it takes, the only way to find out is if you try. While it is true that most people won't succeed, some people will. The only way to find out if you are one of them, is to roll up your sleeves and give it a shot.Q: How old should I be to start modeling or acting?A: There is no minimum age, but there are things you need to understand. There is a difference between being a child model/actor and an adult. In New York, they worship youth. Fashion models often start at thirteen or fourteen years old. In California, producers often look for models and actors over eighteen to play younger, so a model or actor in the fifteen to eighteen range sometimes has more trouble getting work. Throughout the rest of the country, age varies with market. The important thing is to work with your parents to find your place in the market. These workshops are targeted for models and actors twelve and older, but much of the information we provide is very applicable to younger children as well.Q: I noticed a section on nudity, is that what this workshop is about?A: No, just the opposite. There is, however, a reality that every model or actor is going to be faced with the question, do I pose nude or do I accept a role with nudity? There is a right time and a wrong time for nudity and becoming a glamour model puts you on a different career path. The Internet has exasperated the situation because it makes so many nude opportunities available without explaining the consequences. One thing about our workshops is that you will find us to be frank, honest and impartial. We are not going to tell you that nudity is right or wrong. We are going to help you put it into perspective for your career path and explain the impact doing nudes will have on a career. If you are offended by the subject matter, you should skip the session. If you want honest answers, you should attend. The session is not restricted to models over eighteen. Teen models will eventually become adults and it is worthwhile for teens with parents present to understand these things and talk openly about future decisions.Q: Am I going to enjoy myself?A: If you are serious about getting into the business, the workshop is something you won't want to miss. |
