Words of Wisdom
WHO SHOULD I BRING TO A PHOTO SHOOT?
You have just asked on of the toughest questions there is. We need to break this down. The first question is, obviously, should you bring anyone at all? The short answer is, that depends.
Unless you were under eighteen, you wouldn't, for example, bring someone along to a studio shoot for Clairol or Nike. First, they might not let you and it would probably just be inappropriate. Generally speaking, for models over eighteen, a studio shoot for an established commercial client with a full crew does not require a chaperone.
On the other hand, if you are shooting for an amateur or a semi-pro, if you are shooting in a hotel room or at the photographer's home, it is often good to bring someone along,
if the photographer will let you. You have to remember that not all
photographers will allow an escort. If you feel one is important, and they
won't let you, you will have to decide whether or not to accept the shoot.
Rule number one: No boyfriends or parents if you can avoid it.
I know that sounds harsh. Quite frankly, I am not concerned about the boyfriend getting jealous, although it sometimes happens. My concern is twofold. First, you may intimidate the photographer. Whether or not your boyfriend is a problem, the photographer might perceive him as a problem.
Second, you may unintentionally play to him rather than the photographer. It is normal to wonder what is going through his mind and that may inhibit your session.
It can also be a problem to bring a parent for much the same reason. If you give a sexy look or wear sexy attire, you may wonder what your parents are thinking.
The best person to bring is a female (whether you are a guy or a girl) that is not emotionally involved in what is taking place. Your purpose is safety and someone who can run and call 911 will serve the purpose.
The bottom line is that you want to preserve your safety but not throw cold water on the shoot.
That is just my view.
